Caoimhin Kelleher has had an eventful 2025/26 season so far, with a move to Brentford as a starter, a penalty save from Cristiano Ronaldo, and a topsy-turvy World Cup Qualifying campaign with Ireland.
The 26-year-old Corkman is establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s best goalkeepers, and for good reason. Not only has he impressed for Brentford and Ireland in open play this campaign, but his penalty-saving exploits have been highlighted once more.
A video has emerged on YouTube of every single penalty Kelleher has faced, with Kelleher saving six out of his last 11 non-shootout spot kicks, a penalty save percentage of 54.55%.
Given the average penalty save percentage is 20.7%, this is an astounding rate.
His last three penalty saves were against Kylian Mbappe, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Kelleher’s Ireland team-mates have been full of praise of late, with John Egan calling him “one of the most laid-back men you’ll ever meet.”
Adam Idah also recently said: “Everyone has their own different leadership skills and Caoimhín is a big key figure in the dressing room.
“He has a lot of experience in winning the Premier League – one of the best things you can do. And it’s the same at international (level). I don’t know how many times where he’s saved us in games.”
