England beat San Marino in a Euro 2016 qualifier 6-0, as Wayne Rooney drew level with Bobby Charlton’s national team goalscoring record when he dispatched a penalty against the minnows.

You’d imagine Rooney, or England, wouldn’t need much help to see off the team ranked 193 in the world, but the Three Lions got a huge slice of luck when the referree awarded a dubious spot kick after 13 minutes.

Here’s the incident:

Yeah, use neither.

The referee booked Maicol Berretti, San Marino’s number five, for an apparent push on an England player, but it looks harsh to us.

Rooney then equalled Charlton’s record from the penalty.
