WATCH: Daniel Sturridge marks his return to the starting XI with a gorgeous first-half brace

Well taken

He may be injury prone but, when fit, you’ll struggle to find a better finisher in England.

Sturridge hadn’t started a game for Liverpool since October 4th but got his chance to impress as the Reds travelled to St Mary’s to take on Southampton in the Capital One Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night.

The evening couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start as Liverpool conceded after just 41 seconds thanks to some terrible defending and a Sadio Mane header.

But Sturridge clawed his side back into the game after finishing in some style when the chance appeared to have gone for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

It didn’t take too long for Sturridge to double his tally as he proved he’s not just a left-footed wonder by tucking away a lovely little volley just three minutes later.
