This incident all seemed to stem from the controversy which took place immediately beforehand.
The away side looked to ease out the game as they were 2-1 up after Patrick Roberts put them a goal to the good.
However, at 87 minutes, substitute Alex Schalk went down under an innocuous challenge from Erik Sviatchenko.
A penalty was awarded and Boyce dispatched the spot kick to tie up the scoreline.
On closer inspection, it was a blatant dive from Schalk and the referee completely fell for it.
