Stone-faced.
On Thursday night, Liverpool fell to their first defeat in the Premier League this season. Jurgen Klopp’s team lost 2-1 away to Manchester City in a brilliant match that could have a big impact on the title race.
Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane got the goals for City and Roberto Firmino scored for Liverpool in a game that was keenly contested from the first whistle to the last.
If Liverpool had won the game, they would have been 10 points clear of the Premier League champions. But Pep Guardiola’s side reduced the gap at the top of the table to just four points.

Liverpool still have plenty to be optimistic about, yet that wasn’t the feeling at full-time, as conveyed by Virgil van Dijk.
Vincent Kompany, who was fortunate not to be sent off after a landing a heavy challenge on Mohamed Salah, attempted to share a laugh with the Liverpool defender and appeared to make a joke.
However, Van Dijk was in no mood for jokes. The Dutch defender ignored Kompany and made his way over to the match officials to shake their hands. Kompany got the message and the broad smile was soon wiped off his face.
It made for a slightly awkward exchange. You can watch the full clip here.
