VINES: Real Madrid turn on the style during their 17th consecutive win last night

Madrid look virtually unstoppable

Real Madrid would never have expected any danger when they welcomed lower league Cornella to the Bernabeu in the Copa del Rey last night.

But neither could they have anticipated the shedload of skill that they would bring to the pitch in their 5-0 victory.

James Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 16th minute with this delightful lob when 1 on 1 with the Cornella ‘keeper.

Isco obviously took inspiration from James’ opener and tried to emulate it with his right foot, springing the offside trap and passing the ball past the goalkeeper.

James doubled his tally after rushing on to a beautifully laid off ball on the edge of the box and firing home with power.

We’re going to give this goal to Manchester United loanee Javier Hernandez despite the fact that it’s a clear own goal. But Chicarito’s first-time shot here deserves the goal so we’ll be sound about it and look the other way.

And the win was wrapped up when Real Madrid were handed a massive boost by the returning Jese Rodriguez. The young Spaniard marked his come back with this finish.

But it is likely that Jese will remember his return to action more for this beautiful nutmeg than the goal.
