Vines: Lamps a lot as Manchester City keep up Chelsea chase

As you were for the top two

Darragh Murphy

Chelsea maintained their three-point gap at the top of the Premier League but the two leading contenders looked sluggish today

Jose Mourinho’s men were the first team to strike when Oscar played a perfectly weighted ball into the box and all 5ft 8 inches of Eden Hazard leapt to head past Hull ‘keeper Allan McGregor.

Reigning champions Man City left it a little later in the half to break the deadlock and it was Chelsea old boy, whose impact on games hasn’t slipped an iota, who tidily finished off a flowing City move.

Chelsea’s task was made easier after the break when Tom Huddlestone was sent off for an ugly stamp on Felipe Luis.

Diego Costa made it 2-0 when he swept home this chance from eight yards out.
