Vines: Alexis Sanchez has penalty saved before putting Arsenal ahead

The first half has been all about the Chilean forward

The Gunners’ talisman has been at the centre of all the action so far.

Arsenal are down to ten men but are leading QPR 2-0. Alexis Sanchez scored with a header and Tomas Rosicky doubled the lead in the second half… but it could’ve been more. The Chilean had a weak penalty saved by Rob Green in the 9th minute, after being fouled by Armand Traore. However, the Gunners’ forward bounced back to open the scoring in the 37th minute and now has 10 Premier League goals in 17 appearances for Arsenal.

Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud was sent off in the 53rd after appearing to head-butt QPR defender Nedum Onuoha. The French forward got a straight red card following the incident. QPR haven’t made their numerical advantage count and were unable to stop Rosicky finishing off after Sanchez was again involved.

Charlie Austin pulled one back for QPR with a penalty but the Gunners held on to secure a 2-1 victory.
