VINE: Serious crowd trouble at Italy-Croatia Euro qualifier

Flares thrown onto pitch as fans clash in stands

Kevin McGillicuddy

Italy-Croatia game suspended for 10 minutes due to crowd trouble

There was a number of ugly scenes at the San Siro tonight as Italy and Croatia drew 1-1 in their Euro 2016 qualifier.

The initial trouble started after  a shot from Ivan Perisic was fumbled by Gianlugi Buffon to cancel out an early strike from Antonio Candreva.

Following that goal the game was suspended for three minutes after flares were thrown on onto the pitch.

However there was a 10 minute suspension around the 75 minute mark as serious trouble inside the stadium was reported with a  number of flares being thrown onto the pitch.

The game was eventually restarted and ended 1-1 but we have a feeling that UEFA will be taking  hard line with both the Italian’s and Craot’s following tonight’s scenes.
