Vine: Daley Blind and Robin van Persie connect for World Cup throwback

Not quite the Superman finish but a fine goal regardless

Making beautiful, Dutch music together

Daley Blind loves a dink. Robin van Persie is a fan of the over-the-shoulder finish. Together, the Manchester United teammates brought out their best to break Leicester City’s first-half resistance at Old Trafford.

Blind and RVP famously combined for a Puskás Award-nominated goal, for The Netherlands, in last summer’s World Cup. The Foxes’ high-pressing defence were caught out by a well-flighted chip from Blind and van Persie found the net with a crisp half-volley.

Van Persie teamed up with Angel di Maria for the chance that eventually led to a rebound and Radamel Falcao’s sliding goal. It is the first time van Persie and Falcao have both netted in the same game for Louis van Gaal’s side.

City’s afternoon got worse, just before half-time, when calamitous defender Wes Morgan scored an own goal.
