Jack’s back!
Former Ireland manager Jack Charlton was given a rapturous reception by Ireland and England supporters alike at the Aviva Stadium this afternoon.
Big Jack, who won a World Cup with England in 1966 and coached Ireland in three major tournaments, was the FAI’s guest of honour ahead of the friendly match between the two countries.
Big Jack was clearly taken aback by the crowd reaction.

Before he took to the pitch to acknowledge the crowd, Charlton was greeted by England boss Roy Hodgson.

This avid viewer must have got it mixed up, at home. Surely Charlton was putting up his dukes, fighting Irish style?

As for the game itself, this was the highlight from the first hour:

Charlton was joined in the stands by another Irish football legend, Paul McGrath.
It was a shame that the football could not live up to that super start. The match ended 0-0.
