Villarreal 1-0 Marca
Villarreal have called out Marca after the Spanish newspaper photoshopped the club’s logo on top of Juventus’ in a post announcing the last eight Champions League sides.
Unai Emery’s men, who currently sit seventh in LaLiga, secured a convincing 3-0 second-leg victory over Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday night, with the first leg ending 1-1.
Gerard Moreno opened the scoring in the 78th minute with a calmly-converted penalty, before Pau Torres and Arnaut Danjuma also got on the scoresheet in the 85th minute and added-time respectively.
Following the match, the LaLiga outfit quote tweeted a post from Marca that announced the Champions League quarter-finalists – Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Benfica and Villarreal.

In the post, the Spanish newspaper included the name and badges of each team that had progressed into the next round, however, those at Villarreal were eagle-eyed and noticed that something was off.
On close inspection, you can see that Villarreal’s badge has actually been photoshopped on top of Juventus’ – with Marca seemingly predicting that the Italians would be the ones who progressed to the quarter-finals, rather than Emery’s men.
Villarreal jokingly called out the Spanish newspaper over the error, writing: “Didn’t you trust EL PLAN, friends of @marca?”, alongside a laughing emoji.

It is the first time since 2009 – when they were defeated 4-1 on aggregate by Arsenal – that Villarreal have progressed to the last eight of the Champions League.
The Yellow Submarine qualified for this season’s tournament after they won the Europa League last campaign, beating Manchester United 11-10 on penalties after the tie finished 1-1 at the end of extra-time.
