Thierry Henry awoke a firestorm with his criticisms of Javier Hernandez’ goal celebrations for Real Madrid.
The former Arsenal and France striker seemed to take exception, last night, to goalscorers of simple goals not lavishing the goal-creator with praise.
Today, following an avalanche of negative comments and reaction, Henry tweeted, ‘I love it when players celebrate and acknowledge the player that made the assist. The pass can be just as important as the goal.’
A simple search of YouTube however, shows a few moments when, for Thierry Henry, a goal or an assist was all about Thierry Henry.

‘Don’t worry about me, I just set you up’
In his pomp with New York Red Bulls.
‘Cheers for the hard work, I’ll just tap-in here and strike a pose’
