It may not be the result he was hoping for, nor the impact he would have wanted but Chris Forrester didn’t seem at all over his head on his football league debut.
The former St. Pats midfielder signed for Peterborough last week and earned his debut in Posh’s 1-0 midweek defeat to Millwall in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and was handed his first League One start today when Peterborough lost 2-1 away to Southend.
There was some good fortune in Forrester’s assist for Marcus Maddison’s last minute consolation goal but his enterprise was on display when he collected the ball in midfield and got his team into the 18-yard box with some ambitious interplay with Maddison.

It was a deflected pass from Forrester’s boot that led to the goal and we have no idea if this counts as his first assist for Peterborough.
We need the dubious assists panel’s verdict, if there is such a thing, but we’re giving it to him.
