Robbie Savage had to trump all the other playing through injury tales, didn’t he?
This morning’s latest instalment of Fletch & Sav centred on Daniel Sturridge’s injury woes and playing through the pain barrier.
Holding court on the matter were Ian Wright, Savage and former Liverpool midfielder Steve McManaman.
Wright looked to have the best yarn as he described playing through the entire 1993/94 season, with Arsenal, on pain-killers. The striker had a fused ankle that needed surgery but he stuck it out until the end of Arsenal’s season.
Limelight stealing tale of bravery?
Savage was having none of it.
He declared, “I had to take suppositories, painkillers, every week, just to play.”
“I played with suppositories!” Too much information there from @RobbieSavage8… #FletchAndSav https://t.co/aOBQOGAg9B
