Robbie Brady has been one of Ireland’s most impressive performers during the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign so if anyone deserves to be cut a bit of slack it’s him.
But at the same time it’s hard to know what on earth was going through the Norwich’s defender’s mind as he lined up for this crossfield volley in the early stages of the game against Georgia.
We can imagine the pre-match instructions from Martin O’Neill were to keep things simple in the early stages of the game. Take no risks.
Simple.
No risks.
But then Brady thought he saw something on the other side of the pitch.
And more importantly thought he could pick out that man with an audacious left-footed volley.
Oh dear.

Just as well for his sake that the resulting corner came to nothing.
