We can see why Sardar Azmoun is known as the ‘Iranian Messi’.
Dennis Bergkamp scored a lot of amazing goals. Of the 272 he scored, there weren’t many scuffed shots or Gary Lineker two yard specials.
Of all the Dutchman’s strikes, his goal against Newcastle is perhaps his most famous, and mind bogglingly good. Bergkamp flicked the ball past Andy O’Brien as he pirouetted around the defender before slotting home. A seemingly impossible piece of skill.
Sardar Azmoun has come close to repeating the impossible. The 20 year old scored this fantastic goal to win his country’s tie with Qatar at the Asian Cup, currently being held in Australia.
Azmoun, like Bergkamp, receives the ball on the edge of the box, lets the ball come across his body, killing it with one touch and leaving the defender in his wake. The Rubin Kazan forward then toe-pokes it home.
