In fifty years, will people look back at this as being the moment America finally got football?
The majority of Americans have been infamously impervious to the charms of the global game, preferring their own domestic sports such as American football, basketball, baseball and er, NASCAR.
While football’s popularity has grown in recent times, it still ranks below the more traditionally popular American sports in terms of profile.
But that could be about to change, and it’ll be all down to one man.
With the greatest of respect to former world class footballers to play in America, none of them were as cool as Andrea Pirlo.
The Italian playmaker recently signed for New York City FC, and is already wowing American sports fans.
In this video, from an NYC FC training session earlier this week, Pirlo was just being Pirlo, going about his business and performing a effortless reverse pass.
The Yanks couldn’t believe it though.

“Did that just happen?” One asks. “I’ve never seen that before in my life,” his equally astounded friend says.
“I have never seen anything like it”.
Get used to it, buddy.
How will they react when they see a Pirlo free-kick?
