WATCH: Vancouver defender simply has enough of 4-2 defeats and showboating forwards

Kendall Waston was having a bad day. He decided to make things worse.

No-one likes losing 4-2 to close foes, especially during ‘Heineken Rivalry Week’.

Such was the lot, though, for the Vancouver Whitecaps as they went down to Portland Timbers in the Cascadia Cup.

2-0 down within the opening half hour, the Whitecaps grabbed a goal back in the second half only to leak two more. Pedro Morales grabbed a consolation but it was not enough to calm Watson down.

On 94 minutes, the referee blew for full-time but that didn’t stop Dairon Asprilla for playing on. The forward, who had teased Waston with some flicks and drag-backs earlier in the match, sauntered out to the right wing and carried on dribbling.

Waston thought ‘Sod that’.

Watson tackle

The defender received a straight red card for his transgression while Asprilla lives to fight another day.

This is not what ‘Heineken Rivalry Week’ should be all about.
