Transfers: The ‘Falcao to Liverpool’ rumours will not go away

Surely not

Patrick McCarry

Gotta love Jorge Mendes. The man has stones.

Radamel Falcao – the man last seen in a foetal position as Chelsea raided upfield to score the winner against Manchester United – is being heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool.

Sensibly enough, Louis van Gaal trusts the Colombian about as far as he can run in a 10 second period: Not very far.

Mendes, who acts as Falcao’s agent, has received a giant ‘No’ from United after asking if they have enjoyed their 8-month test drive. Unperturbed, the uber-agent has cruised over to Merseyside and has held talks with Liverpool about signing up the seldom scoring striker. [The Mirror]

Arsenal are shaping up for their second FA Cup final in two seasons and are favourites, now, to finish second in the league. Arsene Wenger looks set to build on his side’s resurgence by recruiting an actual defender.

Chelsea are prepared to let Felipe Luis head back to Atletico Madrid following an underwhelming season. Jose Mourinho has already eyed up a replacement and will snap up Aaron Cresswell for £20m. [Daily Express]

Ronald Koeman is reportedly interest in a Dutch-only raid on floundering Newcastle United. In demand Dary Janmaat and goalkeeper Tim Krul are in his sights but why Krul would wish to sign up as Fraser Forster’s deputy is beyond us. Unless, that is, Forster has been targeted by a bigger club. [The Mirror]

Remember, Lionel Messi is a huge Forster fan.
