Transfers: Barcelona to increase Neymar’s buy-out clause to fight off Manchester United interest

Of course they are

Robert Redmond

When Manchester United are linked with a transfer, it tends to end one way for the player.

He gets a bumper new contract at his current club.

Sergio Ramos reportedly told Real Madrid he wanted to join the Premier League side, but ended speculation this month by signing a new contract.

Something similar happen to Cesc Fabregas a few years ago, and it now appears Neymar is about to follow suit.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Barcelona officials will sit down with Neymar’s representatives this week to discuss a new five year deal, that will increase the player’s buy-out clause to €250 million.

Thus making increasing the chances of Neymar joining United from no-hope, to absolutely no-hope.

Here’s the ‘truth’ behind United’s interest in the forward.
FC Barcelona v RCD Espanyol - La LigaAnother player who won’t be at Old Trafford next season is Victor Valdes.

The Spanish goalkeeper, who made two appearances for United last season, but fell out with Louis van Gaal, after reportedly refusing to play in a reserve-team fixture, will join Besiktas on a free transfer.

Valdes signed an 18 month contract with United back in January, but has been ostracised from the first team, and wasn’t even given a squad number for this season.

The Daily Telegraph report that the ‘keeper’s move to the Turkish club will be confirmed over the next day or two.

And finally for United, Everton have been quoted a price of £12 million for Jonny Evans, according to The Daily Star, who claim the player is now seventh choice centre-half at the club.

Sunderland and West Brom are also reportedly interested in the Northern Ireland international, who has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.MK Dons v Manchester United - Capital One Cup Second RoundAway from Manchester United, Kevin de Bruyne is close to joining Manchester City for a reported fee of €80 million, while The Mirror claim the player will sign a six year contract, worth €300,000 a week.

The Mirror are also reporting that Chelsea are about to go on a similar splurge. The Premier League champions are reportedly looking to sign both Paul Pogba and John Stones before the transfer window shuts next Tuesday.

Everton defender Stones, according to Sky Sports News, has handed in a transfer request, paving the way for a potential £40 million transfer, but the deal for Pogba appears more complicated.

The Juventus midfielder could cost the club over £70 million, but, according to journalist Duncan Castles, has an agreement to join Barcelona next summer.CNZAljTUYAEG1_CFinally, Sky Sports are reporting that Spurs are ‘wary’ of making a third bid for Sadio Berahino.

West Brom have already rejected two bids from the London club for the striker, worth £18 million and £21 million, and are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to £30 million.

The 22 year old handed in a transfer request last week, but expect this one to last until deadline day next Tuesday.
