Goal-getters are the order of the day

It could soon be raining strikers on Merseyside

Liverpool will finally shuttle over 19-year-old Belgian striker Divock Origi from Lille after their latest round of ‘pretty please’ phone negotiations. The French side will let the Liverpool loanee go if they are successful with a transfer target of their very own – Ajax forward Kolbeinn Sigthorsson [Daily Telegraph].

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says, ‘Divock is a player that will definitely be here next summer. Whether he’ll be here or not in January is something that there has been discussion (about).’

The Reds are reportedly on the hunt for more goals and have zeroed in on Napoli, and former Real Madrid, striker Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine’s brother, who also acts as his agent, insists his brother is happy in the south of Italy but has refused to rule out a £27m switch. [Daily Mail].

Portuguese uber-agent Jorge Mendes is at it again. The restless soul and defender of injustice is so offended at Manchester United’s lack of respect for Radamel Falcao, one of his top earners, that he is dangling his name about Serie A and hoping for an expensive bite. [Daily Star]

There may be another going at Old Trafford before Kevin Strootman, as Talksport report, arrives for ‘stupid money’. David Moyes has continued his Adnan Januzaj come-to-Spain-on-loan charm offensive by comparing the Belgian international to Johan Cruyff. [ESPN]

We are still unsure as to why Virgil van Dijk is still at Celtic. Perhaps Arsenal have offered used Tesco vouchers and Arsene Wenger’s old Peugeot because a deal for the Dutch defender has not been done. Metro reports that van Dijk remains hopeful of a January switch to London.
