Toronto FC and Jermain Defoe had an acrimonious ending to their relationship.
But the MLS franchise still don’t seem to be over the break-up. The striker started for his new club Sunderland today, after transferring from the MLS franchise where he spent just one season.
Defoe signed a four year deal with Toronto last year, scoring 11 goals in 16 games, but failed to settle in Canada before returning to the Premier League.
However, Toronto still seem a little bitter. They tweeted ‘good luck’ to Spurs for today’s game against the Black Cats and Defoe. The London club and Toronto agreed a marketing and advertising partnership as part of the move that took the striker to the MLS, but the tweet was a bit pathetic.
We can’t understand why they’re so bitter about Defoe’s transfer, especially considering they got Jozy Altidore as part of the deal.
#COYS! We wish our partner @SpursOfficial all the best today as they take on Jermain Defoe and Sunderland.
