Avram Grant likes what he sees.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah looks like one for the future, and present, at listing Manchester United.

The Dutch teenager has been assured in a United defence that is anything but. He was the club’s best player in the weekend loss to Tottenham, with all three goals flooding in after he limped off.

Fosu-Mensah, who was signed from Ajax, has represented The Netherlands at underage level [all the way up to Under-19] but there is hope in Ghana that he may be tempted to switch allegiances.

Both of Fosu-Mensah’s parents are Ghanaian and that is more than enough reason for former Chelsea boss Avram Grant to hop on a plane to Manchester.

Grant, The Star report, will travel to England in the coming days to meet with the 18-year-old and pitch for his footballing talents.

One hopes that Fosu-Mensah makes a call on his international future and gets a senior cap before the year is out. We’re not sure we could take another long-running tug-of-war between two sparring countries. The Jack Grealish – England or Ireland – saga jaded us all.

Fosu-Mensah has been named in United’s provisional squad for the FA Cup quarter final replay with West Ham. Louis van Gaal is hopeful the versatile defender will be able to take his place at full back for the match at the Boleyn Grounds.

Phil Jones and Wayne Rooney are also travelling to London in the hope of featuring for United.
