This Wayne Rooney/Steven Gerrard stat makes for an alarming read for Manchester United fans

SportsJOE

Wayne Rooney’s appalling 2015 has finally come to an end.

The Manchester United captain might not be the only man struggling to find the net at Old Trafford, but his issues have definitely stood out the most.

Rooney was named man of the match during his side’s predictably goalless draw with Chelsea on Monday night, and the England captain’s failure to get on the score sheet means he ends the year with the same amount of league goals as a surprising old foe.

In case you were wondering, that is the same Steven Gerrard who played his last Premier League game over seven months ago.

Gerrard scored six goals in the league in 2015, and one in the FA Cup, to leave him with a grand total of seven for the calendar year.

Roooney has also scored seven since August, his only non-Premier League strike in the Champions League.
