This graphic sums up how awful Liverpool’s strikers have been over the past few seasons

With a few notable exceptions

Robert Redmond

Andy Carroll, Mario Balotelli, Iago Aspas.

You may have thought they were misfiring strikers before, Liverpool fans, but this table below sums up just how little value for money they’ve proved to be.

The table looks at strikers Liverpool have signed since Fernando Torres in 2007, how much they cost in transfer fees, how much they were sold for and how much each Premier League goal cost.

Torres, Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and David N’Gog (no, really), have represented good value, but the rest not so much.

Andy Carroll cost the club €6.8 million per goal, Fabio Borini slightly less and Robbie Keane €4.8 million.

However, they actually represent good value, when one considers Mario Balotelli’s cost the club €20 million and has only scored a single league goal. While Aspas cost €6 million, but never scored a goal

Liverpool fans will be hoping Christian Benteke represents better value than the majority of these signings.
