Well that was f**king dreadful.
There is no need for match reports when a five-word Inbetweeners quote pretty much perfectly sums up the display from England in Slovenia on Tuesday night.
Gareth Southgate watched his side notch up just the three shots on target throughout the 90 minutes, their lowest tally in a competitive game in over two years, and it really made for uninspiring viewing.
Wayne Rooney started the game on the bench (you may have read something about that) and he was called on after 73 minutes to turn the tide but, apparently, the tide was unturnable in the 0-0 draw.
Not even the introduction of Marcus Rashford could bring the required intensity to the pitch as the Slovenian scoreboard minder received an easy night’s work.
But the jokes on Twitter weren’t half bad, at least.
Think Southgate might need to dust off the old Pizza Hut prop for the post match interview #SLOENG pic.twitter.com/WHx5fXZ8Fu

It's nice to see that Gareth Southgate has so quickly managed to impose his personality and flair on the team. #SLOENG

I've got to say, Slovenia vs. England was a fantastic game of football. What a belter, it had everything.

Bring back Big Sam. He might be expensive though.

Wayne Rooney should have quickly changed into a clown suit for the anthems – then he'd FINALLY have got some press…

The highlight of this game was the chocolate digestives I dispatched with a cup of tea around 20 mins ago.
