The internet thinks referee Andre Marriner called an Everton player a “f**king cheat” (Video)

Surely not?

Simon Lloyd

At times you have to feel for referees.

Despite improvements in goal-line technology and extra officials on hand to help them out, judging whether or not a player is trying to deceive them to win a decision can be very difficult.

You can almost understand their frustration.

With that in mind, have a look at this vine.

Referee Andre Marriner was in charge of Everton’s goal-filled meeting with Sunderland at Goodison Park.

With the home side’s Gerard Deulofeu clearly unhappy with Marriner’s failure to award him a penalty, the camera switches to the referee.

The lens is barely trained on him for a couple of seconds, but some appear to think that Marriner can be seen mouthing the phrase “f**king cheat”.

We’re not sure… what do you think?

It seems quite a few people noticed it, too.
