A great XI, if a bit unbalanced.
The FIFpro World XI was announced earlier this evening at the Ballon d’Or awards in Zurich. The team was selected in a 4-3-3 formation, and features Manuel Neuer, Dani Alves, Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Andres Iniesta, Luka Modric, Paul Pogba, Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Although it’s an impressive line-up, the fact that there are the same amount of Real Madrid players as there are Barcelona players left some scratching their heads.
There are five FIFpro World XI’s for 2015, and many from the second team could’ve easily been included in the first XI.David De Gea, the Manchester United and Spain goalkeeper is between the sticks.
David Alaba, who many felt should’ve made the first team at left-back, strangely starts at centre-back, and Luis Suarez is up front.
Philipp Lahm, Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Eden Hazard, Toni Kroos, Yaya Touré, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robert Lewandowski and make up the rest of the team.
Here’s the third, fourth and fifth teams. Wayne Rooney, despite his patchy form for Manchester United this year, even makes an appearance.
