Steven Gerrard is to leave Liverpool at the end of this season.
The Anfield captain will not sign a contract extension with the club he made his debut for 17 years ago. Gerrard is free to discuss offers from abroad, as he is in the final six months of his deal, and a potential move to a MLS franchise, such as New York Red Bulls or LA Galaxy, could be on the cards. Gerrard has reportedly ruled out a move to another English club.
The midfielder was offered a new deal by Liverpool in November, but has instead chose to walk away when the current season ends. Gerrard scored twice yesterday against Leicester City and has made almost 700 appearances for his hometown team, scoring 180 goals and winning a Champions League, two FA Cups, a UEFA Cup and three League Cups. The Liverpool skipper is expected to make an official announcement today.

Stevie Gee to head to MLS… or maybe just go play for another EPL franchise and never actually go to America at all. #younowwalkaway — Soccer Guy (@usasoccerguy) January 1, 2015
Those early games when he played at right back for us. In fact he is still probably our best right back since Rob Jones!
