His final Liverpool presser, at Melwood, before a home game… ever… unless he comes back, which is something he’s already said he would like to do.
Steven Gerrard will Hollywood his last pass on the hallowed Anfield turf this Saturday when Liverpool take on Crystal Palace, unless he comes back [see previous paragraph].
The midfielder will jet off to Los Angeles to play for LA Galaxy in MLS but has vowed to, one day, return to the club he supported as a cub [see opening two paragraphs].
This is how his final pow-wow with the media went down.
Early wobbles

He showed up and, very quickly, aimed for the stars

Two FA Cups, three League Cups, a European Cup, two Super Cups and a UEFA Cup… and a Community Shield. Fifth top scorer of all time at the club. A lot to be proud of. His finest moment as a Red?

He called Everton ‘The Blue Noses’
Asked about his greatest memories at Anfield, two moments sprung to mind.
‘The Everton game when I got the hat trick. After so much stick off the Bluenoses, it was nice.’
His sheer charisma shone through
Not enough for this sarcastic chap.
Watching Steven Gerrard press conference, God I’ll miss that massive smile and infectious laughter he brings.

The one(s) that got away
‘Not winning the Premier League will be a dent (in that pride) and that is a regret. But sitting here now with 708 appearances I’ve achieved a lot more than I thought I would be.’
Sage advice for the man that wants a song on The Kop Gerrard is out the door, but he believes Raheem Sterling should stay No better coach for young players than Brendan Rodgers…

As for the best coach he ever played under. It could only be one man.

Dig in lads
Press duties over, the midfielder was presented with this delightful and, no doubt, delicious cake.

Unlike Gerrard’s Liverpool career, the cake did not last so long

No better way to wash down some cake than with a nice brew
