“I’m a Scouser; I’m a homeboy.”
Steven Gerrard is determined to return to his home city at the end of his LA Galaxy contract, later this year, but there is no job going with his old club.
The former Liverpool midfielder was hoping to get involved with the club after finishing up his two-season stint in America but, according to him, there are no vacancies at Anfield.
Gerrard says current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is his own man and he is happy and content with the team he has built around him. He continued:
“Of course I have a huge Liverpool connection. Liverpool is in my heart and always will be but there’s nothing to comment on. There’s no future decision to work with Klopp.
“I get on very well with him, we’re in contact, but there is no job opportunity for me there at the moment.”
This is the second time Klopp has put an end to speculation about a Gerrard return. Earlier this year, Gerrard was at Melwood to train with the club but the German told reporters it was merely to keep himself fit in the offseason.

For now, Gerrard says, he will support Liverpool from afar and if he has any job updates, he’ll let Reds fans know.
“What I can say is the phone is going and I am chewing over my next move,” he added.
