That's what you get for spitting

It’s always a bad sign when a player who left the club midway through the season has received a higher rating than you.

That’s why the Manchester United fans’ rating of their players’ 2014/15 season will make for painful reading for Jonny Evans who finished dead last on the list of players.

Manchester Evening News published the results after supporters of the Red Devils had been giving the players a rating out of 10 on a weekly basis and the average results are in.

The man in top spot will surprise nobody as another stellar David de Gea season is rewarded with the deserved recognition as United’s best player this season with an average score of 6.8.

Manchester United v Everton - Premier League

Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Daley Blind complete the top five while the debut seasons of high-profile signings Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao earned the players an underwhelming 5.8 and 5.7 respectively.

Manchester United v Hull City - Premier League

Jonny Evans props up the table with a rating of just 4.7 and Robin van Persie, who was voted the club’s player of the year in 2012/13, will not be pleased to see his 5.4.

Newcastle United v Manchester United - Premier League

It must be noted that the criteria for ratings meant that you had to have made at least 10 appearances for the club across the three competitions in which Manchester United were involved this season.

Here’s the list in full.
