Martin Skrtel just loves finding the net.
Whether it’s goals or own goals, the Slovakian adores seeing the net bulge and he was awarded another from the latter category during Liverpool’s unexpected 2-0 defeat at St. James’ Park.
While it’s hard to blame him too much for Newcastle’s opener, he probably should have block to clear Georginio Wijnaldum’s shot with his other foot.
It went down as a Skrtel own goal which means that the Reds centre-half is now joint second on the list of all time Premier League own goal scorers, moving up to 7 alongside former teammate Jamie Carragher.
6 – Most own goals in the @PremierLeague:
R.Dunne – 10
M.Skrtel – 7
J.Carragher – 7
W.Brown – 6
P.Jagielka – 6
F. Sinclair – 6— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) December 6, 2015
At 30, there’s at least five more years of OGs left in Skrtel so it wouldn’t be the craziest scenario to see him come level with Richard Dunne’s record of 10.
