The Police have been notified.
Manchester City may have come back from being a goal down to beat Bournemouth away from home in the seventh minute of injury time, but the ecstasy of that dramatic moment was soon overshadowed with unwelcome controversy.
In fact it was delirium that greeted Raheem Sterling’s dramatic winner which caused events to spiral out of control. Firstly, the goalscorer was sent off in the 99th minute by referee Mike Dean in a decision that was perhaps harsh seeing as fans invaded the playing area, rather than Sterling actually entering the stands.
But now more serious accusations have come to light as sports journalist Sam Cunningham reports that a Bournemouth steward has given a statement to police alleging that City striker Sergio Aguero struck him during the melee following the winning goal.

Whether the police or indeed the Premier League decide to take the matter any further remains to be seen, but it is something of a pity that it looks to have overshadowed a dramatic win for Pep Guardiola’s men.
