Fernando Torres could be on his way to Liverpool … no you haven’t gone back in time to 2007.
The Daily Star report that the Spaniard could be set for a sensational return to Merseyside amid suggestions that AC Milan are looking to cancel his loan deal.
The 30-year-old is a Chelsea player but Blues boss Jose Mourinho revealed yesterday that Torres would not be returning to Stamford Bridge any time soon.
While it is believed that the player would favour a move to native Spain, Liverpool could be about to take desperate measures by having a squad including both Mario Balotelli and Fernando Torres. Premier League defences beware!
Liverpool have also tabled a €4million bid to bring Uruguayan forward Jaime Baez to Anfield.
The 19-year-old has been pegged as the new Luis Suarez, minus the addiction for human flesh, and Brendan Rodgers has apparently moved to sign the striker.
Valencia will offer competition for Liverpool’s bid for CA Juventud’s Baez and, should Rodgers sign the player, he will likely send Baez straight back out on loan to gain experience. (Metro)
According to The Daily Star, Marco Reus‘ move to Real Madrid is all but a done deal which will leave the Premier League’s big guns fairly bummed out.
Reus, 25, has been one of the main talking points ahead of the January transfer window with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all monitoring the Dortmund player.
But FIFA agent Francois Gallardo revealed that the Champions League holders are the only destination for the German, saying: “Real Madrid will sign Reus and operation will close within days.
“It is a very important player, if it comes to Real Madrid would be the icing for long-term project.
“He is following in a while and you want the best clubs, but he said no to all but the Real Madrid.”
Roberto Mancini is keen on a reunion with Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic.
The Inter Milan boss wants to bring the centre-back to Italy and is looking a loan deal for the 21-year-old Serbian.
The player has struggled to break into the Man City team this term and has struggled with injuries so could be willing to re-ignite his career at the San Siro. (The Daily Mirror)
Arsenal will not sign Christoph Kramer in January after the player announced that he is set to stay in Germany.
The Gunners had been linked with a move for the 23-year-old defensive midfielder but the German international revealed that he intends to return to Bayer Leverkusen at the end of his loan deal with Borussia Monchengladbach.
“At the end of the season, I’ll go back to Bayer. Not because I feel it’s my duty, but because I’m convinced by their plans,” he said.
“Some very big clubs have shown an interest in me but at the moment I’m very happy at Borussia.” (Metro)
Kris Commons could be on his way to the Premier League after rejecting a contract extension with Celtic, according to The Sun.
The former Scotland international has six months left on his current deal so could be brought in on the cheap next year with Leicester and West Brom favourites for the winger while Bolton boss Neil Lennon could also take Commons, who he knows well from his time at Celtic.
Commons said: “I haven’t been made an offer that I want to sign.
“There comes a time when you need your future sorted out.”
