He was set to play in just a few hours time
England star Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.
The AC Milan and former Chelsea midfielder complained of severe abdominal pains and was subsequently rushed to a hospital in Naples.
The 29-year-old was set to start today for Milan against Napoli Serie A in a top of the table clash at 19:45 tonight.
Sky Sports Italy have reported that the player will have his appendix removed after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis after arriving at the hospital.
The English midfielder fell ill at the team hotel on Saturday night after the team travelled south to Naples.
Loftus-Cheek has been another successful British export from the Premier League, going from a sporadic starter at Chelsea to a key part of this AC Milan team.
He is joined by a group of English players in Milan, including Kyle Walker, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori.
He has 10 goals and three assists in 62 matches for the Italian giants, playing 22 times this season.
