Roy Keane runs the show in World Cup media match as Ally McCoist branded ‘traitor’

“Keane was outstanding again.”

Roy Keane has starred in another pundits match at the World Cup, this time helping ITV record a 6-2 victory over talkSPORT.

Keane scored the winning goal for ITV in a match against the BBC last week in Qatar. The Irishman celebrated his goal past Micah Richards by taking off his shirt and jumping over a box before being mobbed by his teammates.

Ahead of the World Cup final on Sunday between Argentina and France, the tournament has had a few rest days and the pundits took part in another game.

This time, ITV faced talkSPORT, but it was Ally McCoist, not Keane, who found the net.

According to talkSPORT broadcaster Nigel Adderley, ITV pundits Keane, Gary Neville and Karen Carney were all impressive in the game.

Rangers legend McCoist, however, stole the show and scored six times. The former Scotland striker, 60, was eligible to play for both sides as he works for ITV and talkSPORT.

He was jokingly branded a ‘traitor’ for his star turn.

“It was a really good game again and I have to say that Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Karen Carney were all playing and they were all tremendous to deal with,” Adderley said on talkSPORT.

“But the star player once again is a talkSPORT player, Ally McCoist, playing for ITV.

“It was a 10-6 victory for ITV and Ally scored six of them and we just could not get near him. It’s incredible, he barely moves but he’s always in space.”

“Players like Roy Keane and Gary Neville can just take the game away from you but I think they played well within themselves,” Adderley continued.

“I think they enjoy a runout, enjoy getting out of the hotel and they were tremendous with us before, during and after the game.

“It’s been a fantastic experience. And I think for some of the younger lads to play on the same pitch as Roy Keane and Gary Neville… For all of us it’s just a massive massive honour and something we’ll remember from this World Cup for a long, long time.”
