Liverpool supporters are planning to hold a minute’s applause for Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez on Tuesday night after the couple’s newborn son passed away.
An announcement on Ronaldo’s social media pages on Monday evening confirmed the tragic news that the baby boy had died after Rodriguez had given birth to twins.
Many have taken to social media to offer their condolences to the family since the news was announced.

Ronaldo was due to feature for Manchester United in their Premier League meeting with Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening but will now miss the game.
In a show of support for the 37-year-old and his partner, Liverpool fans on social media are encouraging those attending the game to mark the seventh minute – a reference to Ronaldo’s shirt number – with applause.
“If you are attending the game tomorrow evening, then please show a mark of respect to Cristiano Ronaldo and his family by taking part in the round of applause which will be held on the seventh minute,” one supporter wrote on Facebook.
“Rivalries should be set aside in heartbreaking circumstances such as this.”
Ronaldo and Rodriguez made their announcement on Monday evening.
“It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our baby boy,” their post read.
“It’s the greatest pain any parent can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.
“Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you. Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez.”
