Ronaldinho rejected a move to Leicester City in the January transfer window

More fool him

SportsJOE

With his side in the thick of a title challenge that nobody expected, Claudio Ranieri was on the look out for reinforcements in the January transfer window.

In the end, Leicester recruited FC Copenhagen’s Daniel Amartey and Demarai Gray from Birmingham City, but it’s now being reported that the Foxes also came close to pulling off an audacious move for Ronaldinho.

The 35-year-old Brazilian was without a club since leaving Fluminese in his native Brazil, and was reportedly the subject of an offer from Leicester.

Barcelona v Celta Vigo

Mundo Deportivo claim that the former Barcelona superstar declined the offer, choosing instead to seek a big money move to China.

It may be a decade or so since Ronaldinho was at his best, but we can’t help but feel a little bit disappointed that we won’t get to see him playing in the Premier League.

Imagine a front three of Ronaldinho, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. How wouldn’t that lead to a Champions League trophy next season?
