What a signing this would be.
Reports in the Norwegian press this morning have said that Erling Haaland has travelled to Manchester for talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United.
Haaland has taken headlines across Europe with his incredible scoring form, notching 8 goals in 4 Champions League games, and 16 league goals in just 11 starts for RB Salzburg this season.
Stig Nillssen of Norwegian daily paper Aftenbladet reports that Haaland’s father met Solskjaer in Salzburg last week, with Solskjaer reporting to the English media afterwards that “He knows what he wants and knows what he’s going to do.”
After a rocky period this season, Solskjaer steadied the ship with two vital wins over Spurs and rivals Manchester City in the space of just four days, although that was somewhat dented by a drab draw with Everton last weekend. Signing a natural goalscorer has been a priority since the summer, with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez both exiting the club and no replacement brought in.
Considering Haaland’s form and reputation, should he move to Old Trafford it would be a mssive coup for Solskjaer, who brought Haaland to Molde in January 2017. Stig Nillssen also reports that agent Jim Solbakken is also involved in Haaland, and with Solbakken having close ties to Solskjaer in the past with a number of transfers to both Molde and Cardiff, that may have played a role.
Solskjaer faces the English press later this morning ahead of a trip to bottom-placed Watford on Sunday.
