REPORT: Jose Mourinho has handed Manchester United a sharp ultimatum deadline

Now or never

SportsJOE

Now or never.

Well, this month or never.

Jose Mourinho’s patience is wearing thin. The former Chelsea boss is already said to have signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United but he is believed to have issued Ed Woodward with a deadline if the club want his services.

The Guardian are reporting that United have until May 1 to formally offer the Portuguese man a job at Old Trafford.

Mourinho parted ways with Chelsea in December but has apparently stalled on a number of offers from other clubs because he is waiting on the sacking of Louis van Gaal. So are a lot of people.

United are still battling for the top four, in fact they’re just one point off the Champions League places having beaten City before the international break, and they have an FA Cup quarter final replay with West Ham to prepare for so no decision is likely to be made on the current manager until the end of the season.

Jose Mourinho is the odds-on favourite for the gig after van Gaal but if this deadline ultimatum is true and he really has said that he wants United to formally offer him the job by the start of May, that might drive a wedge between both parties.
