What the hell?
John Terry could earn £20million, (€26.5million) for just one season in China, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.
The Chelsea captain announced yesterday that, as it currently stands, the club won’t be offering him a new deal when his current contract expires in the summer.
Terry came through the youth team at Chelsea, and has played almost 700 games, winning four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League and Europa League.
It always seemed like he’d be a one-club man, but this offer might just change that.
The Chinese Super League is currently flush with cash, so much so Ramires has signed for Jiangsu Suning F.C. from Chelsea for £25million. The league is fast becoming a lucrative destination for Brazilian and European based players and managers.
According to the Telegraph report, Terry already has contacts in China, and last year embarked on a one-man promotional tour of the country.
The 35 year old made the announcement yesterday that his contract wouldn’t be renewed, ahead of any statement by the club regarding his future, and is said to be currently considering his options.
We reckon when you’re offered 20 million quid for one season’s work, that’s when the consideration process ends.
