England supporters have officially lost their patience with Raheem Sterling.
The winger was hauled off at half-time of England’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Wales on Thursday after an ineffective first 45 minutes.
Sterling, who signed for Manchester City for over €60m last summer, was unable to do any damage on the left flank and squandered a gilt-edged chance to open the scoring by firing over from six yards.
He was replaced by Daniel Sturridge, who went on to score a 91st minute winner, and English fans are desperate for Sterling’s starting place to be taken away from him.
One supporter in particular is so unhappy with the 21-year-old that he’s set up a crowdfunding page aimed at paying for a flight back home.
Aaron Bamford has become so sick of seeing Sterling let down the international side that he’s jokingly attempted to take the matter out of Roy Hodgson’s hands.
Bamford writes: “Let’s face it we’re all sick of seeing this idiot mince down the wing and fail to deliver a half decent ball into the box.
“We’ll bring the lad home and then we can all stop cringing everytime a gust of wind knocks him over.
“Don’t worry about being generous, we’re of one mind. A penny each will cover it I imagine.”
