Nadal now holds the record for most Grand Slam victories.
Rafael Nadal became the all-time highest Grand Slam winner on Sunday after beating Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open to win a record 21st title.
Nadal defeated the Russian in six sets after coming from two sets down to secure the win in emphatic style.
The match-up between the Spaniard and Medvedev proved to be a show-stopper with several lengthy rallies, but ultimately, Nadal’s excellence paid off as he took the crown in Melbourne.
His win now makes him the outright all-time Grand slam winner – surpassing rivals Rodger Federer and Novak Djokovic who are one behind with 20 wins. Behind them with the fourth most Grand Slams is the retired Pete Sampras. who achieved 14 titles in his career.

Nadal will now turn to the next Grand Slam in May – the French Open at Roland Garros, where the man nicknamed ‘The King of clay’ will be the favourite to win.
