A two-goal burst in the opening 10 minutes was decisive for the Portland Timbers, who last night won their maiden MLS Cup.
Early strikes from Diego Valeri and Rodney Wallace – the former after a blunder from opposing goalkeeper Steve Clark – were enough for them to beat Columbus Crew SC.

It’s an incredible achievement from Portland, who were the width of a post from going out of the playoffs against Sporting Kansas City in an earlier round.
