If you think it looked good in black and white, wait till you see it in all its glory.
Cork City have enjoyed a good couple of seasons. Undeniably the second best team in the land, behind a history-making Dundalk, John Caulfield’s side beat the Lilywhites in the 2016 FAI Cup final to earn the silverware their consistency deserved.
A great day for the club, no doubt, but the current jersey is a bit “meh”. Unless you love sausages, in which case it is a complete banger.
It was different in the last century, when City were led by the legendary Dave Barry – who put the club 1-0 up against Bayern Munich in the Uefa Cup – and they wore one of the most beautiful jerseys ever donned by an Irish football team.
Even Bayern’s own iconic shirt as modelled by Stefan Effenberg back in 1991 looked like shit in comparison.
Well, there is good news for fans of Cork City and delightful football kits as that shirt has been rereleased.
Copa Football are offering the Guinness-sponsored jersey for €49.95 and it is as simple, plain and beautiful as a pint of porter.
