PIC: Scary jersey from German side can be explained by heavy metal sponsors

It certainly beats Chevrolet and Samsung

When you’ve got “HEAVEN SHALL BURN” emblazoned on your kit, you may have already gotten the mental advantage over your opponents.

German lower league FC Carl Zeiss Jena are not making a religious statement with their jerseys though.

Rather they have been sponsored by a heavy metal band with the striking name that is sure to instill fear into any Godfearing player that lines out against them.

Heaven Shall Burn agreed to back their hometown club on a once-off basis as they try to hype their new album.

Group founder, Maik Weichert told the Jena website:

“For us, we are big fans Zeiss and as football supporters, this project is a dream come true.”

“We are concerned primarily about the message: Support your local team.

“Any fan who supports the club on his doorstep deserves our respect.

“We are not about showing the big middle finger. The point is not to forget the little guys and their meaning to their respective city, region and society.

“We are Jena fans and now we have the chance to return as musicians who, to some extent, are surprised by our own success.

“And we do it gladly and call on you to do likewise: Support, whether as a fan or sponsor, the club in front of your door. This is important.”

Seems like a nice enough fella. Terrifying band name. But sound man.
