We’re guessing that the person in charge of Longford Town’s Twitter account is also a Manchester United supporter.
Either that or they’re oddly blaming Daley Blind for the fact that they’re bottom of the SSE Airtricity League.
We’ll lean towards the latter possibility though after an unusual tweet appeared from Longford’s official Twitter account in the seconds following the first goal in Spurs’ 3-0 victory over United at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
The opener came when Christian Eriksen found space on the edge of the United box and teased the perfect ball across the back four, into Dele Alli’s path.
Blind didn’t track Alli’s run and allowed him to get into a position where he could slot the ball past David De Gea.
And then this appeared on Longford Town’s feed.
It was deleted almost immediately after it was posted and a hopeful second tweet emerged which read “oops, #SayNothing” but that too was deleted.
Then the culprit became apparent as Town explained that one of their contributors had mistakenly believed that he was signed in on his personal account and laughed it off.
Few moments ago, Twitter contributor @JayDonnelly07 mistakenly thought he was on his own page. He's been sacked…for supporting United…
