Anyone who has spent too long playing Football Manager knows the negative impact the game can have on your social life.
While you can get away with spending a month establishing Halifax Town as the dominant force in European football when you’re single, it’s a little different if you want to build a lasting relationship.
For some of us, the work-life-Football Manager balance simply became too much. But there are still who take their fictional managing careers very seriously.
Twitter user Shaun Geary appears to be one of those people, and it appears that things got so bad at one stage that he was banned from playing the game.
But the Football Manager fanatic’s career received a lifeline after he received  copy of the most recent game from his girlfriend Stephanie on Valentine’s Day – with a few restrictions.
The game came with a contract attached, laying out ground rules such as his girlfriend’s ability to re-introduce the ban if she decides the game ‘is ruining her life’, which seems fair to us. We’re less supportive of the idea that the game is completed if Shaun manages to win the double or the Champions League.

Of course, plenty of fellow Football Manager addicts were ready to lend their advice on what to do.
@shaun_geary @milesSI @FootballManager I'd offer her a mutual termination.
